Last Man Standing gets movie deal!
Comics to Film

I am very excited to post this news. I am a member of the site www.deviantArt.com. It's a community of artists of all types, from beginner to professional.  Daniel LuVisi, an artist that I have been following for a few years and has been an inspiration of mine, has just signed a movie deal with Paramount for Last Man Standing: Killbook of a Bounty Hunter (LMS). Paramount beat out Warner Bros and Summit in a bidding war over the rights.

From deadline.com:

Paramount has just closed a deal to purchase the LAST MAN STANDING and develop it as a multiplatform franchise property. The hugely sought-after graphic novel from Heavy Metal publishing was the sensation of this past Comic-Con when it debuted. Marc Evans, President of Production for Paramount, played a major role in bringing this into the studio. Scott Aversano will produce with Daniel LuVisi, the artist and creator of the graphic novel. The project will be executive produced by Stephan Lokotsch, Russell Binder, and Peter Levin. The novel will be expanded into a comic book by Kevin Eastman’s Heavy Metal publishing label. Attorney Craig Jacobson made the deal. The graphic novel which was 2 years in the making and sold out within 2 hours will be expanded into a comic book series for Kevin Eastman’s Heavy Metal publishing.

He is an amazing artist and it has been fun to watch his talents grow over the years and turn into something so Kick Ass. Congrats Dan on the success and I can't wait to see your movie!

I will be following this film as it progresses. You can learn more about LMS here. You can also pre-order his graphic novel here.

Red Dawn not on hold?
Remakes

I looks like MGM might still be spending money getting Red Dawn finished for release. According to this tweet from Edwin Hodge he is beginning ADR for Red Dawn.

"It was great filming "One Tree Hill"!!! Now it's back to Cali to do ADR for "Red Dawn" and then off to San Francisco!!! I love my life!!!!"

ADR, is you don't know is "automatic dialogue replacement".The process of re-recording the original dialogue after filming for the purpose of obtaining a cleaner, more intelligible dialogue track.

This is very good news for Red Dawn fans. It means MGM is still investing in the film and could see the light of day on time or with a short delay. I'm still trying to validate that this is Edwin's offical twitter account but it seems legit.

Quantum Leap Movie
TV to Film

Looks like a Quantum Leap movie is in the works.

Scott Bakula dropped this on the "A Leap of Faith-A Quantum Leap Retrospective" crowd at Comic-Con:

The good news is that Don [Quantum Leap creator Donald P. Bellisario] is working on the film script and has a big time Hollywood producer who wants to do it ... It's about time. But what I always thought would happen, happened ... [that he's now too old for the role]. But Dean [Stockwell, who played Al] and I will have a part in it somehow.

Don did say that as he was writing, he told me he was having trouble, 'getting you and Dean out of my head.' But I know he will do it.

I loved this show and even if it just ends up being a Syfy movie I can't wait.

Josh Hutcherson's Spiderman Audition
Reboots

LatinoReview.com posted Josh Hutcherson's exclusive audition tape for the Spiderman reboot. Even though he didn't get the part, at least we can see what it would have been like.

Castle is back, again. Another Punisher Reboot In The Works.
Reboots
Written by Chris George

When will Marvel learn from their mistakes? Punisher: War Zone was the definitive Punisher movie. It embodied the dark brooding character of Frank Castle. War Zone also followed the source material with extremely violent tendencies and over the top villains. They're at it again. Last night at the Marvel panel, plans were announced to reboot The Punisher yet again. I would much rather see a higher budget Punisher sequel with Ray Stevenson still in the the lead role.

Riddle Me This!!! Gordon-Levitt as the Riddler?

Several news sources are reporting today that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is being cast as The Riddler in the next Batman film. After the death of Heath Ledger, Levitt was oft rumored to take over the role of the Joker in the third installment. See the resemblance? I certainly do. Their facial features are extremely similar.

Although the return of the Joker would be excellent, Nolan is hesitant to taint Ledger's legacy with another actor taking over the role.

Levitt has been building quite the resume over the past few years with independent films like Brick and The Lookout. He's also had his fair share of big budget features like GI Joe (he was the only good part) and Nolan's latest, Inception.
